Karen is a Canadian journalist, living and working in Dublin, Ireland. Fluent in Spanish, she is currently the production coordinator of the long-running environmental documentary programme Eco Eye on Irish public broadcaster RTÉ. She was also the online editor for the FMCG publication ESM Magazine, as well as a contributor for Spanish news in the sector.
After succeeding at being the worst farm girl ever in her rural hometown in Alberta, Canada, Karen decided to enrol in the Master of Journalism program at Carleton University in the capital city of Ottawa.
Upon completion of her master’s thesis about the ethics of Canadian mining companies operating in Guatemala, she graduated in 2016. She has interned with the Edmonton Journal, the Ottawa Citizen, and Ottawa Magazine, as well as penning travel blogs for Letsgo.com and articles for Vietnam travel site Hoi An Now.
Travelling is her favourite way to experience the world, and in recent years she has traveled to Europe, Central America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. When she’s not scribbling away, she spends her time tap dancing, taking photographs, and acing crossword puzzles.
